Breakwater Enrichment is issuing badges this summer!

This summer, we are once again participating in the Maine State of Learning project, which is working to make learning of all kinds - even learning that happens in the middle of summer fun - more visible, legitimate and connected across Maine. Check out more about Maine State of Learning at http://mainestateoflearning.org

Breakwater summer campers will have the opportunity to earn badges for participation and achievements this summer. Similar to the scouting badges we’ve all grown up with, these badges will recognize all the cool things your child achieves and give you an insight into their experiences this summer.

These badges are a little different than the scouting patches, they are digital so that they can easily be collected and shared online.

How it will work this summer:

  • Our badges will recognize participation in various sessions, as well as capture when campers are demonstrating skills and qualities that are important to the Breakwater Way - things like resilience, creativity, optimism, confidence and stewardship. Check them out here: https://mainestateoflearning.org/org/breakwater/
  • We are using a system called CourseStorm as the online platform for our badges - its where you and your child can collect and view the badges s/he has earned.
  • Every time your child earns a badge, you will receive an email notification from CourseStorm and you can log into see the badge and add it to your child’s collection. The first badge notification will give you the log in info!

We hope the badges this summer will help campers recognize their own learning and qualities, further celebrate their achievements and better communicate their experiences with you.
