Our AfterCare Program

K-8 AfterCare

AfterCare for Grades K-8 is offered Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 2:10 - 5:30pm, Wednesday 1:10 - 5:30pm, and Fridays from 1:30 - 5:30pm for all students in the Greater Portland Area (to see where transportation is available from click here). Our hours accommodate early release schedules for both Breakwater School and Portland Public Elementary Schools. Families can register for 6-8 week packages throughout the school year. 

Upon arrival, students check in with an AfterCare staff and meet their friends in the ‘Hive’ (after school classroom) for an afternoon of exploring and creating through a variety of activities. Breakwater provides snacks from 3:30-3:45 everyday. During the afternoon, students can choose to join a game on the field or playground, take part in the daily art project, build with legos and blocks in our building zone, or find a quiet space to do their homework or read a book. AfterCare combines the perfect balance of structured activity options and open ended play. Students enrolled in an enrichment class can register for AfterCare before or after their class.

Session 1: September 8th* - October 24th
(*Pre-session AfterCare is available Wednesday, September 2nd, Thursday, September 3rd, and Friday, September 4th)

Session 2:  October 26th - December 18th
(*Post-session AfterCare is available Monday, December 21st and Tuesday, December 22nd)

Session 3: January 4th - February 12th

Session 4: February 22nd - April 16th

Session 5: April 26th - June 8th
(Post-session AfterCare is available Wednesday, June 9th, and Thursday, June 10th)
