Our AfterCare Program
K-6 AfterCare
AfterCare for Grades K-6 is offered Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 2:10 - 5:30 pm, Wednesday 1:10 - 5:30 pm, and Fridays from 1:30 - 5:30 pm for all students in the Greater Portland Area (to see where transportation is available from click here). Our hours accommodate early release schedules for both Breakwater School and Portland Public Elementary Schools. Families can register for 6-8 week packages throughout the school year
Upon arrival, students check in with an AfterCare staff and meet their friends in the ‘Hive’ (after school classroom) for an afternoon of exploring and creating through a variety of activities. Breakwater provides snack 3:30-3:45 everyday. During the afternoon, students can choose to join a game on the field or playground, take part in the daily art project, build with legos and blocks in our building zone, or find a quiet space to do their homework or read a book. AfterCare combines the perfect balance of structured activity options and open ended play. Students enrolled in an after school enrichment class can register for AfterCare before or after their class.

Session 1: September 9th* - October 25th
(*Pre-session AfterCare for PPS students only with separate registration on Wednesday, September 4th (no K), Thursday, September 5th, and Friday September 6th. Pre session AfterCare is not available for BWS students)
Session 2: October 28th - December 20th
Session 3: January 6th - February 14th
Pre-session AfterCare for PPS students only with separate registration on Thursday, January 2nd and Friday January 3rd. Full day vacation camp care available on 1/2 and 1/3 for BWS students with separate registration.
Session 4: February 24th - April 18th
Session 5: April 28th - June 6th
Post session AfterCare with separate registration on Monday, June 9th, and Tuesday, June 10th. Additional dates TBD
