Our After School Programming
Breakwater Enrichment Center prides itself on offering a diverse array of activity options through our AfterCare program and a dynamic selection of Enrichment classes that allows students to explore their passions, try new things, and meet new friends from other area schools. We offer enrichment and aftercare packages in 6-8 week sessions throughout the school year. Whether your child is looking for a structured enrichment class, open ended play and group activities, or a little bit of both you can create the schedule that works best for your child and family.

Session 1, 2026 Registration Information
June 10th - July 10th: Pre-Registration for 2026-2027 Enrichment Center Programming Pre-Registration on CampBrain will open for everyone on Wednesday, June 10th and close on Friday, July 10th. Pre-registration is a chance for families to complete the required paperwork at a leisurely pace and it is completely optional. This is open to all!
July 21st - July 19th: Round 1 of Session 1 Enrichment and AfterCare Registration
Session 1 registration for returning 2025/26 aftercare and enrichment families and all 2026/27 Breakwater School families will tentatively open on Tuesday, July 21st at 6:30 am through July 26th at 11:30 pm.
July 28th: Round 2 Session 1 Enrichment and AfterCare Registration
Session 1 registration for new families (as space allows) will tentatively open on Tuesday, July 28th st at 6:30 am

Our after school programming runs Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 2:10 - 5:30 pm, Wednesday 1:10 - 5:30 pm, and Fridays from 1:30 - 5:30 pm for all students in the Greater Portland Area. Our hours accommodate early release schedules for both Breakwater School and Portland Public Schools. Students are served a healthy snack option (provided by Breakwater) between 3:30 and 3:45 daily.
Who We Serve
Our after school program mainly serves K-8th grade students from Breakwater School and K-5th grade students from Portland Public Elementary Schools to whom we offer transportation to our campus (see below for pick-up locations). K-8th grade students from other neighboring schools are welcome to join our programs, however, transportation is only available from the schools listed below due to our staffing capacity.
During the 2025-2026 school year we will be offering transportation Monday - Friday from the following schools (this list may be updated). Round trip transportation is not available at this time:

Amanda C. Rowe Elementary School
Lincoln Middle School

What We Offer
Our after school offerings can be described as ‘a la carte’ which allows families to register for Enrichment classes, AfterCare days, and or music lessons that fit your child’s interests and your family’s schedule. AfterCare and Enrichment are available in 6-8 week sessions throughout the school year allowing you to adjust your registration during the year. Your registration package can include:
AfterCare: Offered all afternoon and before/ after enrichment classes for K-8th grade, students can expect to enjoy a variety of open ended play and structured activity options both inside and outside on our playground. Learn more about AfterCare by clicking here
Enrichment: K-8th grade enrichment classes allow your child to dive deeper into an interest or discover a passion they never knew they had! Choices are offered for each age group and include options such as ‘Jewelry Making,’ ‘Rock Climbing,’ ‘Open Studio in the Curiosity Lab,’ ‘Nature Art,’ ‘Mountain Biking’ and many others. How Do I Register?
Our online registration platform allows you to register your child for AfterCare days and Enrichment classes, complete payment, and submit required paperwork including immunization records all in one place. For private music lessons, please email enrichment@breakwaterschool.org first. If you are a Breakwater School family or have attended Enrichment Center programming in the past (including summer camp) please log into your existing account to register. If you want to add a child to your account simply log back into your personal account and select ‘add a child’ when prompted. This helps us reduce the number of duplicate profiles on our registration platform.

We offer full and partial scholarships for AfterCare and Enrichment. Click here to apply If your family qualifies for free or reduced lunch, you are eligible for a full scholarship. Families that do not qualify for this assistance are welcome to apply for a partial scholarship. Please fill out one application form per child.
