2023-2024 COMMUNITY PARTNERS

Breakwater Enrichment Center is proud to partner with community organizations who offer enrichment classes and camp offerings to our students during the school year and summer. Their partnership allows us to expand our offerings, expose our students to experts in the field, and allows us to connect with teachers and programs outside of our organization. If your company or non-profit is interested in partnering with us, please email enrichment@breakwaterschool.org

Unwritten Roads: Unwritten Roads is a mobile, multi-genre creative workshop for young adults in Maine. It was founded in 2015 by Katherine Nicoll and Laura Cowie, two Maine Teaching Artists specializing in creative writing and filmmaking. The program serves students grades K - 12 in school residencies, after school programming, digital classes and summer and vacation camps throughout the State of Maine. Unwritten Roads gives youth a chance to express themselves creatively through film and to become strong storytellers while given guided support in a safe space.

Stages Youth Theater: At STAGES Youth Theater, we believe creativity is inherent in children of all ages and that participation in the performing arts unlocks the imagination, builds self-esteem, and provides a meaningful opportunity for young people to learn about themselves and the world around them. STAGES' fun and dynamic classes focus on the process of acting and storytelling and are great for new and experienced actors alike!

Mad Science: Mad Science of Maine is a leading science enrichment provider. We deliver unique, hands-on science experiences for children through after-school programs, birthday parties, workshops, special events, and summer camps. Our innovative programs are as entertaining as they are educational!

Brick by Brick Maine: Brick by Brick offers STEM-based programming using LEGOs® for children of all ages. Our selected Lego projects and accompanying lessons bring abstract concepts to life through tangible, hands-on activities. Building and playing with Lego bricks help children develop cognitive skills and learn concepts like size and shape, quantity, order and pattern. Structural building with Legos stimulates critical thinking and encourages creative problem solving.

Apparatus Dance Theater: Founded in 1999, Apparatus Dance Theater uses various physical aerial apparatus, invented or traditional, to study and perform stories of human interaction. Our work is a collaboration of performers devising work through research, improvisations, and physical experiment, directed by Janette Hough.

Fun Chefs: Fun Chefs is a company geared toward exploring and practicing the culinary arts for today's busy and active families.

Fun, delicious and nutritious recipes will be created along with lessons in nutrition, sanitation, culinary math and culinary geography. Students will learn how to follow recipes, use kitchen tools properly and enjoy the fruits of their labor.
